For our social media community
Netiquette
Our channels bring together people living with ME/CFS or Long COVID, their families and friends, researchers, and everyone who supports or takes an interest in our work. It matters to us that this exchange stays respectful, safe and accessible for everyone. To make that possible, we ask you to keep the following points in mind.
Respectful and empathetic
We treat one another with respect. Many people in our community live with a severe illness and often with very limited energy. Insults, belittling remarks and personal attacks have no place here.
Factual and fair
Differing opinions are welcome and are part of a good exchange. Please keep things factual, even when you disagree. Insinuations dressed up as facts and other provocative rhetorical devices are not acceptable.
No discrimination, no incitement
We do not tolerate racist, sexist, anti-queer or otherwise discriminatory content. The same applies to hate speech and calls for violence.
Responsible about health topics
We share scientifically sound information. Please do not spread unproven promises of a cure. Personal experiences are valuable and welcome, but they are no substitute for medical advice.
Stay on topic
Please make sure your contributions fit the topic at hand. We remove advertising and spam.
Protect privacy
Do not share private information about yourself or others, such as addresses, telephone numbers or other people's health data.
Respect sources and copyright
If you share content or studies, please cite the source where possible and respect the rights of others.
If the rules are broken
We may hide or remove posts that breach this netiquette. In cases of repeated or serious breaches, we reserve the right to block profiles. We report criminal content to the relevant authorities.
Questions and notes
If you have questions, or if you notice a post that breaches these rules, please write to us at contact@mecfs-research.org.
Thank you for helping to make our community an appreciative and safe place.
