Since the first Sunday of Advent, our donation subscription campaign has been running under the motto \"5\u20ac for 5 things\". The idea that many small, regular contributions can together enable more biomedical research has already motivated over 1,000 donors in the first week. An impressive sign of what can be achieved together! <\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Achieving our goals set for 2026 (see current funding strategy<\/span><\/a>) requires the highest possible level of donations. We call on the public, those affected, relatives and friends to make sustainable funding possible for the further expansion of our work for more diagnostic and therapeutic research by setting up donation subscriptions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Starting now: Gift donations \u2013 for Christmas and beyond<\/h4>\n\n\n\n

Gift donations are now also possible through this campaign. At Christmas or other occasions, donors can simply enter the name of the recipient on the donation subscription website<\/span> <\/a>and, for donations of \u20ac5 or more, receive a beautiful PDF certificate to give as a gift \u2013 printed out to place under the Christmas tree or on the gift table, or digitally for recipients who live far away.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

What becomes possible when we join forces<\/h4>\n\n\n\n

On the donation subscription website, our model calculation shows what many donors can achieve in terms of research funding with a minimum of \u00a35 per month. Every additional investment in research \u2013 whether scholarships for young researchers, basic studies, research professorships or drug studies \u2013 generates progress in understanding diseases and developing treatment options. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Just 10,000 patients, families or friends could contribute \u20ac5 per month to raise \u20ac600,000 for approximately 40 scholarships, four basic studies or one research professorship. A drug study requires approximately 25,000 donors. 100,000 donors would collectively raise \u20ac6 million per annum, enabling several basic research and drug studies, scholarships and professorships. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Since the campaign began on the first Sunday of Advent, more than 1,000 donors have contributed over \u20ac100,000 (including projections for 12-month donation subscriptions). We will soon be displaying the current status of donors and donations on the donation subscription website<\/span><\/a> on a daily basis.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For ME\/CFS \u2013 the disease with 5 letters \u2013 we want to achieve even more than before in our 5th year of existence in our 5 areas of work (the areas of work are explained in the current funding strategy<\/span><\/a> ). Simply put: the more reliable our funding from donations becomes, the more comprehensively and sustainably we can and want to invest in research. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

How can you support the work of the ME\/CFS Research Foundation?<\/h4>\n\n\n\n

While progress has been made, there is still a long way to go before diagnosis, care and treatment of ME\/CFS patients will one day become an established medical and social standard. We at the ME\/CFS Research Foundation are focussing on biomedical research, which we see as a key element in solving these problems (more on this in our research funding strategy<\/a><\/span> and in the recent half year report<\/a><\/span>, which summarises our activities). To achieve this, we rely on broad support from private donors \u2013 those affected, relatives, families, friends, associations, schools, networks, companies, initiatives, event organisers and all supporters. If you are not able to provide direct support, you can share our stories and motivate others to help. Because only together can we achieve. this goal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We fully translate donations and other support into scientifically excellent research, networking and ultimately visible successes, i.e. improved ME\/CFS diagnostics and therapies. We are happy to work together with other organisations and initiatives - please contact us!<\/p>\n\n\n\n
