The Charit\u00e9 Fatigue Centre and the ME\/CFS Research Foundation are hosting the \u2018ME\/CFS Symposium 2025 - Research and Care Studies in Germany\u2019 on the afternoon of 13 May 2025. The event will be held in German language.<\/strong><\/strong><\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The half-day hybrid event is designed to inform patients, relatives, doctors, medical professionals, researchers, politicians, the media and the general public about current research projects in Germany and will be held as an online livestream in German. Online participation in the event is free of charge for registered participants. Further information on the agenda, speakers and chairs, as well as the registration form, are available on the event website.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The event takes place under the stewardship of Prof Carmen Scheibenbogen, director of the Division of Immunodeficiencies and Post-infectious Diseases and the Charit\u00e9 Fatigue Center (CFC) at Charit\u00e9 - University Medicine Berlin and Prof Uta Behrends, head of the MRI Chronic Fatigue Center (MCFC) for young people at the Technical University of Munich Hospital and the Munich Schwabing Clinic.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The focus of the event lies on the presentation of research projects funded by the Federal Ministry of Health (BMG) and the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) that deal with the areas of health care, treatment, basic and clinical research. Some of the research projects also cover Long COVID and post-COVID syndrome. Apart from a number of recently initiated studies as part of the health care research programme on Long COVID and post-COVID syndrome and other post-acute infection syndromes by the BMG, presentations at the symposium will also cover the joint and single research projects announced at the end of 2024 by BMBF on ME\/CFS disease mechanisms. These projects will be presented by the principal investigators to a large public audience for the first time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As the ME\/CFS Research Foundation, we hope that with the \"ME\/CFS Symposium 2025\" we are able to provide up-to-date information on the state of ME\/CFS research in Germany to a public audience around the International ME\/CFS Day on 12 May. The symposium will be held in addition to the \"International ME\/CFS Conference 2025\" which will take place on 12-13 May 2025. The conference is also organised by the CFC and the ME\/CFS Research Foundation and is specifically aimed at an international audience of experts and researchers. With the symposium, we aim to make an additional contribution to greater transparency in the field of ME\/CFS research in Germany.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

How can you support the work of the ME\/CFS Research Foundation?<\/h4>\n\n\n\n

There is still a long way to go before diagnosis, care and treatment of ME\/CFS patients will one day become a medical and social standard. We at the ME\/CFS Research Foundation are focussing on biomedical research, which we see as the key element in solving these problems (more on this in our our research funding strategy<\/a><\/span> and in our half year report summer 2025<\/a><\/span>, which summarises our activities). To do this, we need extensive support from private donors \u2013 those affected, relatives, families, friends, associations, schools, networks, companies, initiatives, event organisers and all supporters. And if you are not able to provide direct support, you can share our story and motivate others to help. Because only together can such a feat be achieved.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
